ANNAN HARBOUR ACTION GROUP IS A CHARITY REGISTERED WITH THE OSCR. THE GROUP WAS FORMED IN 2011 AS A RESULT OF CALLS TO REGENERATE THE ANNAN HARBOUR AREA. WE GAINED CHARITY STATUS ON THE 14TH OF JULY 2016.
The organisation’s purposes are:
To develop Annan harbour and surrounding area as a community asset; promote water-based and shore-based activities linked to the maritime environment and acquire and regenerate historic buildings and land bringing these into purposeful use for the benefit of all.
To work with the community to promote the harbour and Annan as a hub for performance, events, and festivals which celebrate, and make the public aware of, the maritime heritage, history and natural environment.
To improve the infrastructure and facilities of the harbour and surrounding area with the aim of promoting public participation in sport and recreational activities such as boating, rowing, sailing, other water based activities and sports, cycling, nature tourism and walking.
To promote and/or provide training in traditional skills especially in building coastal rowing boats to ensure that the heritage of these crafts is maintained and passed on to the next generation.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 16 and we actively encourage younger members of the community to become involved in helping to preserve this most important part of our towns heritage.
2021 will be a very exciting time for the group, with major regeneration plans in the offing, and we are actively seeking new members to join us to help take forward our vision of regenerating Annan Harbour for increased public usage.
We are looking for new members with a wide variety of real world experiences to broaden the skillsets in our membership. Could you be one of our new members, or even a charity Trustee, helping to take our ambitious plans forward over the next few years?
If the answer is yes, or you would like more information about becoming a member, please click the apply to become a member button below or go to the Contact Us page and help make a difference to a major community asset in Annan.
